Don’t let bad weather dampen your plans! Aiken has plenty of indoor activities to keep everyone entertained. Here are some great ideas for exploring and enjoying the area on those rare days when our South Carolina sun is hiding!

Discover Aiken’s History

  • Guided Trolley Ride & Train Museum: Hop on a guided trolley ride to learn about Aiken’s rich history or visit the Aiken Train Museum on Union Street & Park Ave downtown. Perfect for all ages!

  • Private Driving Tours: Dive deeper into Aiken’s charm with a private driving tour led by a local guide. We highly recommend Tailored Tours of Aiken! Marty knows all the great landmarks and local stories, and she also offers walking tours downtown when you'd rather walk than ride in a vehicle.

  • Center for African American History, Art, and Culture: Explore the heritage and artistry of African Americans in Aiken at this cultural hub on York Street downtown. Check online for hours of operation before you go!

Unleash Some Energy

  • Axe Throwing in the Alley: Test your aim and have some fun at Woodchuckers Axe Throwing, located right in downtown Aiken. This also makes a great date night activity!

Get Creative

  • Art Classes: Tap into your artistic side with classes for kids or adults at The Aiken Center for the Arts or The Art Nook. For pottery enthusiasts, check out Bisquecuts and Glazy for hands-on fun.

Relax & Play

  • Radioactive Pinball: Step back in time and enjoy a unique pinball arcade experience at Radioactive Pinball in Aiken. With a variety of classic and modern pinball machines, it’s a fun spot for kids and adults alike.

  • The Rack & Grill: Enjoy a casual game of pool at this popular local spot with good tables and satisfyingly greasy fries!

Explore the Universe

  • Planetarium at USC Aiken: Being cooped up inside isn't so bad when you have the whole universe to explore! Learn about the stars and planets at the USC Aiken Planetarium. Check out concerts and events at the Etheridge Center while you’re there.

Catch a Show

  • Aiken Community Theatre: Our beloved local venue on Newberry Street showcases local talent in a series of live performances and shows throughout the year.

  • Movies: Does anyone go to a movie theater anymore? In Aiken, we do, especially on sweltering summer afternoons or cold rainy winter nights! Head to Regal Cinemas, tucked behind the Publix parking lot off Whiskey Road.
